Amigurumi!

Amigurumi: Japanese, from Amu (to knit)and Nuigurumi (doll), but refers only to crocheted dolls. This is a Japanese art of crocheting small stuffed animals for home decoration or toys.

My sister's birthday was celebrated this weekend. Since I am ridiculously broke I used my many crafting skillz to make her an adorable prezzie. She seemed to really liked it...and also promised to not let the kids play with it. Which is really good considering it weighs a lot more then it looks like. I weighed it down with a rock. Also, there are glass pebbles in the feet too. Amigurumi tend to be for display and since my sister is getting old I decided she did not need a cuddly lil' stuffie for her bed.

She has two turtles. Pika (Chad will love that) and Squirtle. Not sure how she got the names, but Squirtle has three little white spots on his back. She thought that was what I was going for with the three spots on the amigurumi turtle. ...it wasn't, lol. I was honest and told her it was just the pattern I used. I like mine better, cos it seems cuter. But at the same time, the pink is too much for me.

That black heart is on the far back 'spot' and came from my grandmother's button tin, along with the eyes. This one, that looks like a beanie on my finger, it is a leg. I crocheted it on my finger basically, and with my twisted thoughts I began to see the beanie...and the desire to write on myself with a sharpie was too overwhelming.

Anyway, it was a lot of fun and now I am getting requests for birthdays, lol.

  2. Thanks ^_^

It was a lot of fun. I am now working on a peach elephant with blue ears. This is the request from my niece who's birthday is in February. She has already named him Buggo and wants him rather large, she also wants a baby one too. She will be four, so I dont mind her knowing about it already, lol.
